What to Expect

Some Important Points to Prepare You for Your Best Treatment Experience

During your first acupuncture appointment, Dr. Kim will thoroughly question you about your health history and current state of health. She will then do a comprehensive intake, determine your condition and the primary goal of the appointment.

  • Your vitals will be taken, including an examination of your tongue and pulse.

  • You will rest in a leisurely position, either on your back or on your stomach, depending on your chief complaint. Needles will be gently inserted in strategic points based on your condition to help restore balance and harmony. Many patients tend to become quite relaxed and even may fall asleep during this process.

  • Relax! You'll have at least 15-30 minutes (or more) to rest and allow the healing process to do its work. (Dr. Kim will check in on you during this time to make sure you are comfortable.)

  • At the end of the treatment, she will return to remove your needles and review your treatment and the treatment plan moving forward.

When you leave your appointment, you should feel relaxed and revitalized!

Clinic Etiquette

  • Cell phones:  We request that you refrain from using cell phones once you are in the treatment room. Please silence or completely power down your phone, as the vibration or ring may distract you from fully benefitting from this opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.

  • Music:  There will be relaxing music playing in the background during your treatment. If you wish to not have music, please inform Dr. Kim.

  • Fragrances: If possible, please try and avoid wearing any heavy perfume or cologne, as patients who are waiting in the waiting room or follow your appointment, may have sensitivity to strong scents that linger.

Cancellation/Late Policy

  • 24-hour notice:  If you know that you will not be able to make a scheduled appointment, a 24-hour notice of cancellation is required. Otherwise, a no-show fee of $75 will be charged. Your outstanding balance must be paid prior to your next treatment.

  • Late policy:  We understand that sometimes traffic or other last-minute circumstances may slightly delay you from arriving promptly.   **Please call/text (949) 424-7883 to alert us you're running late.**

  • If you arrive late, please know that your treatment will only be for the duration of the allotted scheduled time, so that we may accommodate the other patients who follow your appointment time. Note: you will still be charged the full cost of your treatment.

  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes past your scheduled appointment time (without any notification), that will be considered a no-show, and we will need to reschedule you for another appointment time. Note: you will be charged the no-show fee of $75.
